Big fat dark juicy Bing Cherries initiate the complex aroma of our Sophomore vintage for the SageCliffe 100 red wine. The 2006 vintage of the 100 Red brings you slightly different proportions of Cabernet and Merlot with 55% Cabernet Sauvignon leading the charge here, while the 45% Merlot plays very nicely with the Cabernet in the finished blend. Once you get through the onslaught of cherry aromas, the nose opens up beautifully with rich Blackberry Jam, Fig Compote, Black Currants, and Macerated Huckleberries while Toasted Oak, along with a hint of Licorice and Vanilla round out the involved bouquet. On the palate those juicy Bing Cherries reintroduce themselves before giving way to the Black Currants that move into fresh Blackberries. The richness of the palate is brought on through bits of Cedar, Toast, and Leather before the Smooth Tannins on the long lingering finish leave you with the essence of bakers Cocoa on the palate. This wine will pair well with Grilled Red Meats, Roast Chicken, or even a Hearty Salmon dish with a Rich Sauce.
